Abstract

Clay soil is a type of soil that is cohesive, plastic and has very low bearing strength. This is because clay soils have high swelling and shrinkage. So that during the dry season the land will experience shrinkage, but during the rainy season the land will experience expansion. This study aims to determine the CBR value of clay from the Artificial Lake Ring Road in Kec. Coastal Rumbai, Riau. This study uses an experimental method. The experimental research method is a research method that is carried out by direct testing in the laboratory. Soil stabilization is a soil improvement method that allows for better soil conditions. Based on the research that has been done, the original soil CBR test results are 5.7%. For mixed variations, the highest CBR value was obtained at 4 days of curing conditions with a mixture of 6% lime and 9% brick powder, namely 8.84%. Whereas in the immersion conditions the highest CBR value was obtained on 4 days of immersion with a mixture of 6% lime and 9% brick powder, namely 4.1%. In the conditions of curing and soaking, the more variations in the mixture of red brick powder, the resulting CBR value increases and the longer the curing and soaking time, the more it affects the increase in the CBR value of the soil.
