Abstract
The process of burning these bricks generally requires burning at high temperatures around 800? using firewood or coal. But this way of making bricks by burning is not a good thing to do, because it will result in a large increase in carbon dioxide gas. Carbon dioxide gas is one of the main causes of environmental problems, such as the greenhouse effect and air pollution. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum concentration of lime mixture for bricks without burning. The percentage of natural soil material composition is 100% and the addition of lime is 0%, 3%, 6% and 10% and the drying time is 3, 7, 14 and 28. The standard for testing the physical and mechanical properties of bricks without burning uses SNI-2094-2000. As well as testing the original soil properties including soil specific gravity (Gs) test, soil water content, and sieving analysis Based on the results of the compressive strength test that has been carried out, the highest compressive strength value was obtained in a 6% lime mixture with a drying age of 14 days, namely 23.8 (kg/cm2) 20.4 (kg/cm2) in the C28 sample. drying 28 days. The lowest compressive strength value was found in sample A with 0% lime mixture and 3 days drying age of 11.9 (kg/cm2). The compressive strength value does not meet the SNI-2094-2000 compressive strength standard. The highest apparent density was found in 6% lime mixture at 14 days drying age of 1.687 gram/cm3 and the lowest apparent density was 1.418 gram/cm3 in 10% lime mixture 28 days drying age. As for water absorption, all variations of the mixture and drying time meet the maximum requirements according to SNI-2094-2000.
