Abstract

Since ancient times, Indonesia has been known as a producer of spices internationally. This causes a large market demand for spices, including candlenut. Traditionally the splitting of the candlenut itself is done by making a bag made of used motorcycle or car tire rubber which is cut to the size of a hazelnut and then tied to a stick that has a length of 30 cm to 40 cm. After that, the candlenut was hit against the stone crusher, the employee had to take the candlenuts one by one and then hit the stone crusher. Causing less efficient results issued. So that the author has the innovation of solving hazelnut with the help of a machine. The aim of this design is to increase the capacity of the candlenut shell crusher and to design the transmission system of the candlenut shell crushing machine. The method used in this design begins with a literature study, initial design making, calculation of increased capacity, transmission system and breaker plate. Based on the calculation results of the design of the transmission system on the crusher, selecting the material, discussing and ending with the conclusion of the hazelnut shells, the final calculation can be taken, namely, obtaining a value for the transmission system on the drive pulley with a diameter of 101 mm and a motor shaft rotation of 400 rpm; for pulleys with a diameter of 228 mm and a shaft rotation of 177 rpm;; the pulley speed obtained is 2.114 m/s and 2.111 m/s, while the circumference of the belt on the motor shaft is 1880 mm in this tool using a transmission shaft diameter of 40 mm and obtaining a shaft speed of 970.68 m/s.
