Abstract

Oil palm plants have a significant impact on national plantations and industries.Indonesiais oneof themain producers ofpalmoiland this is donein away thatbenefits society and provides employment and a source of foreign exchange for thecountry. One of the most important processes for obtaining palm oil is the Screw Pressmachine. This machine functions to squeeze palm fruit to get palm oil. Damage to thescrew press machine often occurs, namely the wear of the Worm Screw when squeezingpalm fruit, this is caused by the long service life of the screw press. This study aims todetermine the critical components of the screw press machine and calculate the materialcharacteristics of the Worm Screw Press by conducting tensile tests, hardness tests andmicrostructural tests. Based on the results of the tensile strength test, it is known that thelowest value is in the screw specimen 3, which is 394.40 N/mm^2 and the highest valueis in the screw specimen 1, which is 481.82 N/mm^2. Meanwhile, the hardness testresults show that the lowest value is in the screw specimen. 3 with a value of 198.87kg/mm^2andthe highestvalue onscrewspecimen1is247.38 kg/mm^2.
