Abstract
Mechanical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau Jl. Kaharudin Nasution Km 11 No.113 Perhentian Marpoyan, Pekanbaru Telp. 0761-674653 Fax. (0761) 674834 Email : fajarkarunio@gmail.com ABSTRACT Along with the development of technology in the world, especially the furniture industry, it is very difficult to get raw materials from nature, the use of alternative technologies such as composites can be used as a way out, where composites can be made by humans using surrounding materials such as industrial waste and household waste into particle board. . This research was conducted to find out how the effect of physical properties based on variations in the mixture of particle board from acacia bark and a mixture of used plastic Polypropylene (PP) which will be subjected to heat treatment using a hot press tool with variations in composition 80% : 20%, 70% : 30% , 60% : 40% for density, moisture content, and thickness swelling tests. The results of particle board density testing ranged from 0.72 gr/cm³ - 1.04 gr/cm³, particle board moisture content tests ranged from 5.88% - 1.17%, swelling The thickness of the particle board is between 4% - 9%. The results of data collection in this study all physical properties tests met the standard SNI -03-2105-2006.
