Abstract

The development of material technology in Indonesia, which is increasing rapidly in line with national economic growth, must be balanced with the provision of the material itself. Composite is one type that is made by combining two or more types of materials that have different properties into a new material with different properties with advantages such as strength, light weight, corrosion resistance, economy and so on. Composites usually contain other mixtures, both chemical and natural, but in this study for the manufacture of epoxy matrix composites, banana fiber was mixed. Filler is one of the components needed in making modifications to support strength, fill the number of air voids, and resistance to external forces. The test was carried out using an experimental method with tensile testing and impact testing. The ratio of epoxy resin matrix to hardner is 1:1, the variation in fiber arrangement is random, the mix variation that will be used is 3 variations, Among others, namely: 30% bamboo filler, 50% epoxy resin, 20% banana frond fiber, 25% bamboo filler , 50% epoxy resin, 25% banana fiber, 20% bamboo filler, 50% epoxy resin, 30% banana fiber. From the research conducted, the best tensile specimens were obtained with variations of 25% fiber, 50% resin, 25% filler with a tensile value of 9.5Mpa and the best impact specimens were obtained from similar variations, with a collision price of 0.49 J/mm².
