Abstract
In the process of petroleum production, it generally produces an emulsion, where the emulsion is two liquids which in their natural conditions do not mix with each other, but under certain conditions combine to become a single phase. Oil emulsion in its separation can be done by several methods, namely mechanical, thermal, electrical and chemical processes. In this Final Project research, we will make an organic demulsifier from pineapple. Pineapple fruit is used because pineapple fruit contains citric acid which is about 78% of its total acidity. In this study, an organic demulsifier was made using the saponification method and then a demulsification test was carried out using the bottle test method in the laboratory. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal separation value of the emulsion from organic demulsifier to commercial demulsifier with temperature variations of 700C, 800C, 900C and concentrations of 2 ml, 4 ml, 6 ml within 2 hours and checking every 30 minutes. From the research results, it was found that the results of the emulsion separation were good for both samples, the highest separation in organic demulsifier samples occurred at 800C and 900C with a concentration of 6 ml with a separation of 32 ml, and the highest separation in commercial demulsifier samples occurred at 800C and 900C with a concentration of 6 ml with a separation of 32 ml.
