Abstract

PT. Bukaka is a company engaged in aluminum smelting. The practice of smelting aluminum itself has received attention from practitioners in the field of occupational safety and health, none other than because it is a source of danger that can cause accidents or occupational diseases. The health hazard in the aluminum smelting process is caused by the use of materials containing chemicals in the production process, as well as an unhealthy working environment; noise, pollution, dust and hot objects during work have side effects which can cause work-related illnesses such as respiratory problems , eye irritation, burns, and other accidents. Therefore, this study discusses how the implementation of occupational safety and health legal protection for workers at PT. Bukaka. The more technological developments in the business sector, the greater the potential that can threaten the occupational safety and health of workers in a company. Therefore efforts are needed to guide and provide protection for the workforce. Labor is an important factor in a company. Therefore it is necessary for efforts to foster, direct and provide protection for workers, if workers are treated according to their dignity, then the company will achieve results that match the goals desired by the company. To answer this problem, this study uses descriptive normative legal research methods. Normative legal research is legal research that is carried out by examining literature or secondary data, while it is descriptive in nature, meaning that this research is carried out by conducting field reviews in order to obtain additional data. While the method of data collection is done by means of library research (Library Research) and field research (Field Research). This study conducted data analysis The results obtained from this study stated that in the context of implementing occupational safety and health legal protection at PT Bukaka the company made efforts, namely the provision of personal protective equipment for Head Protection (Helmet safety), Eye protection, Hearing protection, Respiratory protection, Face protection, Arm protectors, Body Protectors, Safety gloves, Worker clothing, Foot Covers, Safety Shoes. However, the implementation of occupational safety and health has not been fully implemented by PT. Bukaka employees because there are several obstacles such as lack of attention and awareness in complying with established work procedures and the presence of workers who are not proficient in doing their jobs (unskilled workers) in the workforce.
