Abstract

This research was motivated by lack of teenager’s character at senior high school 5 Mandau, Mandau sub-district Bengkalis Regency. The purpose in this research examined: 1) knowing parenting style level from students’ perception at senior high school 5 Mandau, Mandau sub-district Bengkalis Regency. 2) Knowing teenager’s character level at senior high school 5 Mandau, Mandau sub-district Bengkalis Regency. 3) The influence of parenting style on teenager’s character at senior high school 5 Mandau, Mandau sub-district Bengkalis Regency. This research was quantitative with correlational approach and simple linear regression. Data collection technique used questionnaire and documentation. Sampling in this research used total sampling, it caused involved all population, and sample was 69 students. Data analysis used normality test, simple linear regression test. Analysis result used SPSS 25. Research finding from simple linear regression test stated that significant score in 0.000. Because significant score 0.000 < 0.05 and it was concluded that the hypothesis was accepted. The analysis from coefficient score (R square) in 0.989 (98.9%) described that teenager’s character was influenced by parenting style at senior high school 5 Mandau, Mandau sub-district Bengkalis Regency in 98% that was in coefficient interval 0.80 – 1.000 in very strong category.
