Abstract
The teachers’ roles in developing active learning is the teachers’ efforts in creating a fun learning situation for students to learn actively. The success of an education is more influenced by educational staffs, especially the teachers. This study aims to investigate the roles of Islamic Studies teachers in developing students’ active learning at SMPN 6 Siak Hulu, Kampar Regency. This is a descriptive qualitative study using interview method. The subject of the study is 2 teachers of Islamic Studies at SMPN 6 Siak Hulu. Meanwhile, the object of the study is the roles of Islamic Studies teachers in developing students’ active learning at SMPN 6 Siak Hulu. The informants of the study consists of the main informants and supporting informants. The data collection techniques of the study are interview and documentation. The technical analysis of data is done through data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the teachers play important roles in developing active learning in this school. So that the students become more active in the learning process. It can be seen from the teachers who provide stimulation to think for the students to solve the problems that have been given. In consequence, the students will always actively search, so that the learning will be easier to understand.
