Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the morphological characteristics of five types of local oranges in Pelalawan Regency, Riau. The experimental design of this study used a non-factorial design with 5 replications so that 25 experiments were obtained by collecting data directly in the field through observation and identification following IPGRI standards. Data were analyzed using STAR and DMRT at the 5% level. To determine the kinship relationship using the MVSP 32 application with the UPGMA method on NTSys-pc 2.1 software. The security parameters are divided into two groups, namely qualitative and quantitative characters. Qualitative characters consist of 27 parameters, while quantitative characters consist of 10 parameters. The results are presented descriptively and in tables. The dendogram results show that five types of local oranges in Pelalawan Regency are separated into two groups. The first group consists of kaffir lime, lemon and lime. Kaffir lime and lemon with a similarity percentage of 43.13%, are the closest relatives compared to lime which has a similarity percentage of 41.90%. The similarity lies in the character of the stem shape, the intensity of the green color of the leaf blades, the color of the shoots, the texture of the fruit surface, and the thickness of the fruit skin. The second group consists of cassava and sweet orange with a similarity percentage of 48.98%. The similarity is in the density of branches, the green color of the leaf blades, the placement of the leaf lamina, the presence or absence of leaf stalk wings, and the width of the leaf stalk wings. Based on the results of quantitative analysis of these five citrus from the 10 parameters observed, all showed high diversity. The similarity is in the number of segments per fruit except for cassava which has fewer segments than the other four citrus. Keywords: Citrus, Character, Morphology
