Abstract

The background of the study is the low learning motivation at SMAN 2 Rambah Hilir, Rokan Hulu Regency. The study aims to investigate the influence of giving rewards on students’ motivation in learning Islamic Studies at SMAN 2 Rambah Hilir, Rokan Hulu Regency. This is a quantitative study with a correlational approach. The population of the study is the students in grade XI of natural science and social science classes at SMAN 2 Rambah Hilir, Rokan Hulu Regency, totaling 153 students, with a sample of 111 students. The data collection techniques of the study are questionnaires and documentation, and the data analysis techniques of the study are normality tests, linearity tests, and hypothesis testing using statistical analysis of simple linear regression models performed by SPSS 23 software. Based on the results of data processing and data analysis performed by the SPSS 23 software, it is known that the alternative hypothesis stating that the influence of giving rewards on students’ learning motivation can be accepted with a significance value of 0.000. This study shows that there is an influence of giving rewards on students’ motivation in learning Islamic Studies at SMAN 2 Rambah Hilir, Rokan Hulu Regency. The magnitude of the influence is 0.408 or 40.8% which is in the range of 0.40 - 0.599 with a fairly strong category. It can be predicted that if giving rewards increases, it will increase the learning motivation by 0.592 or 59.2%. Vice versa, if giving rewards decreases, the learning motivation will also decrease by 0.592 or 59.2%.
