Abstract

This study aims to analyze the capacity of village mentors in the development of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDesa) in Jangkang Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency during the 2023-2024 period. The main issue addressed is the extent of the village mentors' capacity in providing guidance, training, and technical support to BUMDesa managers, as well as the challenges faced in strengthening this capacity. This research employs a qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews and direct observation of mentoring activities and BUMDesa management. The findings indicate that the village mentors possess a solid foundational capacity in building relationships and providing training and guidance to BUMDesa managers. Their managerial skills are also quite good, particularly in the development of BUMDesa managers' skills in management, marketing, and finance. Village mentors have successfully enhanced BUMDesa performance through technical guidance in financial management, revenue growth, and better business management. However, the challenges faced include greater involvement with BUMDesa members and the strengthening of more practical technical skills. In conclusion, the capacity of village mentors in Jangkang Village is adequate in supporting BUMDesa development, with solid foundational and managerial skills. Nevertheless, improving direct involvement with BUMDesa members and enhancing practical technical skills are necessary for village mentors to more effectively support the sustainability and success of BUMDesa.
