Abstract

Interest is an important part of the learning process, students’ interest in participating in learning is very important to make learning process run well. There are some problems that exist in students’ interest in learning, it can be seen from the lack of students’ enthusiasm in following the lesson, the lack of student activity, the students like to delay completing assignments given by the teacher because they give responses such as asking and answering during the learning process in class. The problem formulation of the study is whether there is an influence of parental attention on students’ learning interest at Al Usmaniyah Private Madrasah Aliyah of Bagan Batu. This quantitative study investigates whether there is an influence of parental attention on learning interest. Most of the students in grade X are Muslim. The data collection techniques of the study are questionnaires and instructions. The results of data analysis from the simple linear regression show that there is an influence of parental attention on students’ learning interest at Al Usmaniyah Private Madrasah Aliyah of Bagan Batu by 28.4% which is included in the "low" category, it means that the alternative hypothesis is accepted. While the remaining 100% -28.4% = 71.6% is influenced by other factors.
