Abstract

The role of teacher was helping students in overcoming learning difficulty to increase students’ achievement. Students’ learning achievement was still being crucial problem to solve. Students’ learning difficulty showed that they were difficult to memorize surah or verses especially in Islamic education subject. Then, they were lack of enthusiastic in doing homework or task given. They were lack of enthusiastic in answering questions that was given by teacher. Also, lack of interest in learning. The minimum passing grade in class X for Islamic education subject was 78, in class XI was 80 and class XII was 85. Around 30% of students did not reach the minimum passing grade. The purpose in this research examined to know the effort to overcome students’ learning difficult. This research used qualitative method. The subject in this research was Islamic education teacher. Based on the writer’s explanation, the conclusion stated that students’ learning difficulty at senior high school 9 Pekanbaru that was students were difficult in memorizing ALQur’an verses. They were difficult to understand teacher’s explanation, and they were difficult in understanding new material that they did not study yet, the Islamic education teacher’s effort in solving this problem such as: (a) giving special guidance; (b) invited students to participate in learning process; (c) doing personal approach; (d) doing evaluation; and (e) doing cooperation between teacher and parents.
