Abstract

Research entitled The Effect of Water Hyacinth POC and Paper Ash on the Growth and Production of Cayenne Pepper Plants (Capsicum frutescens L.) was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution KM 11, No. 113 Air Winter Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City, starting from March to June 2023. The aim of the research is to determine the effect of the interaction of water hyacinth POC and paper ash on the growth and production of cayenne pepper plants. This research used a completely randomized factorial design, consisting of 2 factors, namely the first factor was water hyacinth POC consisting of 4 levels, namely 0, 200, 400 and 600 ml per liter of water and the second factor was organic paper ash consisting of 4 levels, namely 0.36 .72 and 108 grams per crop. Each treatment consisted of 3 replications so that 48 experimental units were obtained. The parameters observed were plant height, relative growth rate, net assimilation rate, flowering age, harvest age, fruit weight per plant, number of fruit per plant. The observation data was analyzed statistically and carried out using the Advanced Honestly Significant Difference Test (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results of the research showed that the interaction between water hyacinth POC and paper ash had a significant effect on all observation parameters. The best treatment is water hyacinth POC 600 ml/water and paper ash in a polybag dose of 108 grams. The main effect of water hyacinth POC and paper ash was significant on all observation parameters.
