Abstract
The study entitled the effect of empty oil palm bunch compost and rock phosphate fertilizer on the growth of oil palm seedlings (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) in pre-nursery on peat media. The study aims to determine the effect of interaction and the main factors of empty oil palm bunch compost and rock phosphate fertilizer on the growth of oil palm seedlings. The study was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru. The study was conducted from July to November 2023. The design used in the study was a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors. The first factor is empty oil palm bunch compost consisting of 4 levels, namely 0; 75; 150; and 225 g/polybag and the second factor is rock phosphate fertilizer consisting of 4 levels, namely 0; 15; 30; and 45 g/polybag, there are 16 treatment combinations with 3 replications, so there are 48 experimental units. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaf stalks, stem diameter, longest stalk length, root volume, longest root length, wet weight and dry weight. The data were analyzed statistically and continued with further BNJ test at the 5% level. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the interaction of giving empty oil palm bunch compost and rock phosphate fertilizer has a significant effect on plant height, number of leaf stalks, stem diameter, longest stalk length, root volume, longest root length, wet weight and dry weight, the best treatment of empty oil palm bunch compost is 225 g/polybag and rock phosphate fertilizer is 22.5 g/polybag. The main effect of empty oil palm bunch compost is significant on all parameters, the best treatment dosage is at 225 g/polybag. The main effect of rock phosphate fertilizer is significant on all observation parameters, the best treatment is at 22.5 g/polybag.
