Abstract

Rumbai District is an area on the coast of the Siak River which has frequently experienced flooding in recent years. Based on these problems, researchers are interested in conducting research on hydrogeological conditions and the process of absorbing water into the soil. This research was conducted in the southern part of Rumbai, Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, which is located at coordinates 101°23'42.35"- 101°27'7.00" E and 0°34'12.21"- 0°32'29.85" N . The aim of this research is to determine the infiltration rate and hydrogeological conditions as well as the influence of these two variables on the occurrence of flooding in the research area. The method used is data collection in the field using a double ring infiltometer for infiltration rate and a hand auger for analysis of the hydrogeological conditions of the research area. Field data has been further processed through laboratory analysis, namely sieve analysis. The results of the infiltration rate analysis showed that the infiltration rate value of 0-70 mm/hour was classified as a slow infiltration rate, 71-100 mm/hour was classified as a medium infiltration rate and >100 mm/hour was classified as a fast infiltration rate. Based on granulometric analysis, there are two types of soil, namely medium sand and coarse sand. According to the scoring results, there are three divisions of areas based on the level of flood vulnerability, locations that are vulnerable to flooding are marked in red, locations that are moderately vulnerable are marked in yellow and locations that are not vulnerable to flooding are marked in green.
