Abstract

Motorbike parking security is an important aspect to prevent motor vehicle theft, especially in boarding house areas. Parking with minimal supervision and conventional security systems are often the cause of this vulnerability. This research raises the issue of whether the designed Internet of Things (IoT)-based security system can improve motorbike parking security and how the detection and notification process works. The aim of this research is to design and test a prototype IoT-based motorbike parking security system using PIR sensors, reed switch sensors, and RFID. The method used is the prototyping method, with stages including literature study, system design, implementation, testing and evaluation. The research results show that the designed system can detect suspicious activity with a notification response to telegram within 6-8 seconds. Apart from that, this system is able to store data on boarding house residents automatically via the website. However, testing also identified several technical problems, such as incompatibilities in some sensors that needed repair. Based on the research results, this IoT-based security system is effective in improving motorbike parking security in boarding house areas and can be developed further by adding other security features.
