Abstract

The main problem faced by schools is the lack of student discipline in various aspects, such as being late in coming to school, not wearing full uniforms, not doing homework, not being serious about taking lessons, and not carrying out picket duties well. The aim of this research is to: 1). To describe teachers' difficulties in disciplining students at SD Negeri 005 Ujung Batu 2). To describe the teacher's efforts in disciplining students at SD Negeri 005 Ujung Batu. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative approach. The research was conducted at SD Negeri 005 Ujung Batu, Rokan Hulu Regency, with homeroom teachers and class IV students as informants. The data collection instruments used were: observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis was carried out in the following stages: data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was tested using a triangulation test. The research results show that the main difficulties faced by teachers are students' low awareness of the importance of discipline, lack of parental support, and the parents' diverse social and educational backgrounds. Teachers face obstacles in disciplining students in terms of obedience to rules, carrying out picket duties, and discipline in participating in learning. Efforts made by teachers include providing sanctions, guidance, and collaboration with parents to improve student discipline. This research can open up opportunities for the development of more effective and sustainable intervention methods in disciplining students for further research.
