Abstract

Character building had higher meaning than moral building, because character building did not only related to right or wrong problem. But also how to do good things in life. It meant that in early years age, it should be started to know which was good or bad habitual or action and it would be a habitual to build children character. The method in this research used qualitative method where it was conducted at MDTA Nurul yaqin 2 Suka Karya Tuah Karya Village Pekanbaru by using observation, interview and documentation method. The informant was teachers at MDTA Nurul yaqin 2 suka Karya Tuah Karya village Pekanbaru. Based on research finding, there were some character problems such as students’ spoke to friends when teaching and learning process, students bothered friends when teacher explain material, students came late when praying time. Based on observation, interview, and documentation result, it was known that teacher’s role in building students’ character at MDTA Nurul Yaqin 2 Suka Karya Tuah Karya village Pekanbaru did religion understanding started since early stage and firstly started from prayer, recite Al-Qur’an, Zikr, and Do’a. MDTA teacher has also had role as educator, teacher, guide, advisor, innovator, model, and evaluator.
