Abstract

This study aims to investigate the implementation of the entrepreneurs’ understanding of chicken slaughterhouses on halal slaughtering in Bukitraya District, Pekanbaru city. Currently, business owners and labors of chicken slaughterhouses only pay attention to reciting basmallah, ensuring the sharpness of the tools for slaughtering and showing understanding of the halal slaughtering process but they do not pay attention to some of the conditions and pillars of the halal slaughtering process itself. The problem formulation of the study is how the chicken slaughterhouse entrepreneurs understand the halal slaughtering process in Bukit Raya district of Pekanbaru city. This is a quantitative study with the data sources of the study are from primary and secondary data. The data collection techniques of the study are questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation. The sample of the study consists of 65 chicken slaughterhouse entrepreneurs in Bukit Raya district of Pekanbaru city. Based on the results of the analysis of entrepreneurs’ understanding of chicken slaughterhouses on halal slaughtering in Bukit Raya district of Pekanbaru city, it is known that the level of the entrepreneurs’ understanding of chicken slaughterhouses in Bukit Raya district of Pekanbaru is "Strongly Agree" with a percentage of 88,16%, it means that most of the entrepreneurs of chicken slaughterhouses already know and understand the process of halal slaughtering. However, the chicken slaughterhouse entrepreneurs only understand the procedures for halal slaughtering in general. While the labors of chicken slaughterhouses have never participated in training on halal slaughtering in accordance with Islamic law (Fatwa MUI No. 12 of 2009).
