Abstract

This study is Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the symptoms of lack of concentration in learning among students, such as 6 out of 36 students lacked in acceptance or attention to learning material, 8 out of 36 students were unable to respond to learning material, when the teacher explained the lesson some students could not answer her/his questions, 5 out of 36 students were unable to refute inappropriate answers from friends, 7 out of 36 students did not listen to the teacher's explanation, and 4 out of 36 were unable to ask questions to find additional information. Based on these backgrounds, the problem formulation of the study is whether the implementation of Mind Mapping method can increase the students’ learning concentration in class VIII B at MTs Al-Ittihadiyah? This study aims to increase the students’ learning concentration in class VIII B at MTs Al-Ittihadiyah. The subjects of the study are the teachers of Islamic Culture History subject and the students in class VIII B at MTs Al-Ittihadiyah, totaling 36 students. The data collection techniques of the study are observation, interviews and documentation. Based on the results of data processing and data analysis, it can be concluded that after implementing the Mind Mapping method, the students’ learning concentration increased in cycle I by 84% and in cycle II by 90%, which are in the very good category. Futhermore, the teachers’ ability score in implementing the Mind Mapping method also increased in cycle I by 80% and in cycle II by 88%, which are in the very good category.
