Abstract

Overcoming the crime of forest and land burning is one of the main priorities in preserving the environment and the sustainability of ecosystems in the Indragiri Hulu region. This study aims to analyze efforts to overcome forest and land burning crimes committed by the police in the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hulu Police. The Indragiri Hulu region is one of the areas prone to forest and land fires, so effective prevention and management efforts are needed to preserve the environment and the sustainability of the ecosystem in the region. In this thesis entitled "Combating the Crime of Forest and Land Burning in the Legal Area of the Indragiri Hulu Police" there are main issues, namely: What are the causes of the criminal act of forest and land burning at the Indragiri Hulu Police and What efforts are being made to eradicate the crime of forest and land burning in the Indragiri Hulu Police area The research method used is empirical with data collection techniques through interviews and document studies. Research respondents included a number of police officers, heads of regional disaster management agencies, and the community involved in tackling forest and land burning crimes in the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hulu Police. The results of the study show that the regional disaster management agency and the police in the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hulu Police have made various efforts in tackling forest and land burning crimes, including through patrols and supervision, law enforcement, as well as outreach and education to the public about the dangers and impacts of burning. forest and land. The cause of forest and land fires in the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hulu Police is caused by humans throwing cigarette butts carelessly without paying attention to whether the fire from the cigarette butts has gone out or not, and fertilizing and burning so that the fire spreads resulting in forest and land fires. . In order to increase the effectiveness of tackling forest and land burning crimes in the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hulu Police, this study recommends the need for increased capacity and support for law enforcement officials, increased outreach and education to the public, and increased collaboration between government, communities and related institutions in efforts prevention and control of forest and land burning crimes.
