Abstract

This research was motivated by the low practice of obligatory prayers among alumni of Islamic boarding schools, and this issue continued to occur in the field of education, particularly in Gambut Mutiara Village, where some alumni of the Islamic boarding school were lacking in performing obligatory prayers. This research aimed to understand the practice of obligatory prayers among alumni of Islamic boarding schools in Gambut Mutiara Village. The method used in this research was qualitative, which included interpretative and naturalistic approaches toward the subject of the study. To collect data, the researcher used observation, documentation, and interview techniques. The data processing and analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the research results regarding the practice of obligatory prayers among alumni of Islamic boarding schools in Gambut Mutiara Village, the conclusion drawn from this research was that the implementation of obligatory prayers among the alumni was still low. Many alumni had not yet performed obligatory prayers, and they lacked self-awareness. Additionally, their busyness made them forget to perform the prayers, and there was no intention to carry out the obligatory prayers themselves. Efforts made by the alumni to set a good example for the community in performing obligatory prayers included inviting, reminding, and raising awareness among fellow Muslims about the importance of performing obligatory prayers.
