Abstract

Sharia cooperatives have a role in the welfare and economy of a country. With the presence of a sharia cooperative, it provides the community, especially for business people, an opportunity to realize and develop the business they run. The problem formulation of the study is how to manage sharia cooperative in the KSPPS cooperative of BMT Al-Ittihad Pekanbaru in improving the welfare of its members. This study aims to determine the management of the KSPPS cooperative of BMT Al-Ittihad of Rumbai Pekanbaru in improving the welfare of its members. The method of the study is a qualitative method with the data collection techniques are interviews, observation and documentation. Then the collected data are analyzed by using the qualitative descriptive theory, through the steps of data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of data analysis carried out by the researcher regarding the results of interviews with cooperative managers, management teams, members and cooperative local institution, it can be concluded that the KSPPS cooperative of BMT Al-Ittihad of Rumbai Pekanbaru can improve the welfare of its members, besides providing business capital, it can also fulfill the members’ consumptive needs, such as purchasing motorcycles and cars. Futhermore, it can also be in the form of purchasing land, houses or electronic goods. The contract used by BMT Al Ittihad Rumbai is the murabahah or sale and purchase agreement. The qord contract is used by BMT Al Ittihad in certain cases such as paying member debts, education and health costs. BMT Al Ittihad Rumbai uses this contract which cannot be covered by other commercial contracts, such as murabahah, musyarakah and others. In its implementation, BMT Al-Ittihad Rumbai does not apply or require profit sharing or margins relating to this qord contract.
