Abstract

Thesis. Imagery in the Novel Dua Garis Biru by Lucia Priandarini and Gina S. Noer. This research is motivated by imagery. Imagery is a way of expressing a picture of life as a sensory image generated by a word or sentence, so that the image contained in a literary work has an appeal. Through the imagery used by the author, something that is depicted will feel more real in the reader's mind. The novel Dua Garis Biru by Lucia Priandarini and Gina S. Noer uses imagery. The problem studied in this study is: How is the image contained in the novel Dua Garis Biru by Lucia Priandarini and Gina S. Noer? This study aims to obtain data and information to describe, analyze and interpret image data contained in the novel Dua Garis Biru by Lucia Priandarini and Gina S. Noer. The theory used is the theory of Burhan Nurgiyantoro (2014). The data source used is the novel Dua Garis Biru by Lucia Priandarini and Gina S. Noer which consists of 208 pages. The approach used is a qualitative approach to the type of library research (library research). The method used is descriptive method. The data collection technique used is the hermeneutic technique. The data analysis technique used by the author is content analysis technique. The results of image research in the novel Dua Garis Biru by Lucia Priandarini and Gina S. Noer show that visual imagery and auditory imagery dominate in the characters Bima and Dara who often look at each other and tell stories so that they both listen to each other. While the imagery of motion, touch and smell in this research can serve to describe the character of the characters and give an idea of how the character of each character is.
