Abstract

Sharia lease financing (sharia leasing) was a financing activity in the form of providing capital goods either through leasing with an option to buy or without an option to buy, which would be used by the lessee for a certain period based on installment payments using the principles of ijarah and ijarah muntahiyah bittamlik. This research was motivated by the fact that Sharia Leasing was very simple in its procedures and implementation, aligned with Islamic teachings, had clear contracts, and the emergence of Sharia Leasing practices answered the community's need for more Islamic financing by Sharia financial institutions. This study aimed to understand the perceptions of Pekanbaru citizen towards Sharia Leasing. The data collection technique in this study used questionnaires distributed to 384 samples. This type of research was quantitative. Based on the research results on the perceptions of Pekanbaru citizen towards Sharia Leasing, it could be concluded that currently, Sharia Leasing greatly assisted the Pekanbaru citizen who needed business capital assistance without interest in their business capital loans. The results of this study showed a figure of 81%, which meant the perception of Pekanbaru citizen towards Sharia Leasing was "very strong." In other words, the perception of the people of Pekanbaru City towards Sharia Leasing was very favorable, agreeing that financing activities in the form of providing capital goods either through leasing with an option to buy or without an option to buy, which would be used by the lessee for a certain period based on installment payments using the principles of ijarah and ijarah muntahiyah bittamlik, were highly supported.
