Abstract

This research aims to analyze the factors that influence the speaking skills of VC class students at SDN 21 Pekanbaru. Speaking skills are an important aspect of learning that students must master, but many students face difficulties in developing this ability. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. Data was obtained through observation, interviews and documentation involving VC class students and teachers. Qualitative data analysis techniques are carried out through a process of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, which are supported by triangulation techniques to ensure the validity of the data. The research results show that internal factors such as motivation, interest, self-confidence, language skills, concentration, and cooperation influence students' speaking skills. Apart from that, external factors such as the environment, use of mother tongue, social context, and family support also play an important role. High student motivation and interest has been proven to increase active participation in speaking activities. Support from teachers and parents also contributes significantly to the development of students' speaking skills. It is hoped that this research can provide insight for teachers and parents in supporting the development of students' speaking skills more effectively.
