Abstract

ABSTRACT The Phenomenon of Student Self-Esteem in Friendships at the Faculty of Communication Sciences Riau Islamic University Obbie Josrianda 199110052 This research aims to describe and determine the Self-Esteem Phenomenon Between Peer Friends at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Riau Islamic University. This research uses a research method with a qualitative approach, where data is obtained through primary and secondary data using interview, observation, and documentation data collection techniques described in narrative form. The validity technique used in this research is data triangulation by re-comparing and verifying the research data obtained. In this research, 3 informants were active students at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Riau Islamic University, who experienced the self-esteem phenomenon directly, which was used as the research object. The results of the research show that self-esteem is a phenomenon that has an influence on the friendship environment at the Riau Islamic Communication Faculty, because awareness of low self-esteem can make someone feel uncomfortable in their environment, and vice versa with high self-esteem. A person's self can encourage a person to be more confident in their environment.
