Abstract
The demonstration method was a method of presenting lessons by showing and displaying to students a process involving a particular situation or object. From field observations, it was evident that student learning outcomes were still low, especially at Elementary School 005 Tambusai, where symptoms of low learning outcomes included students not understanding the material taught, a lack of enthusiasm and interest in the material presented, and difficulties in replicating what the teacher had demonstrated. The research problem formulated in this study was whether the application of the demonstration method could improve student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education in grade IV at Elementary School 005 Tambusai. Thus, the purpose of this study was to determine how the application of the demonstration method could improve students' cognitive learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education in grade IV at Elementary School 005 Tambusai. By using classroom action research (CAR) and administering tests to measure student understanding, the results showed that before using the demonstration method in the pre-cycle, student learning outcomes were categorized as low, with a percentage of 53.8%. After applying the demonstration method in cycle I, student learning outcomes increased to 68.1%, categorized as quite high. Continuing to cycle II, student learning outcomes increased to 87%, categorized as very high. Therefore, it could be concluded that the application of the demonstration method could improve student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education on the subject of Dhuha Prayer in grade IV at Elementary School 005 Tambusai.
