Abstract

This research was motivated by the emotional development of students that had started to become tumultuous with what they experienced in school, in their lives, and in their social interactions. To prevent students from becoming bored and to increase their motivation and intelligence in learning, the role of teachers as motivators was needed. This research was very important because it tried to explain about students’ emotional intelligence and how Islamic Education teachers made efforts to shape students’ emotional intelligence of Grade VII at Junior High School 32 Pekanbaru. The research problem was: how did Islamic Education teachers make efforts to instill students’ emotional intelligence in Grade VII at Junior High School 32 Pekanbaru? The data collection technique in this research was the interview technique. The results of the research were: the role of teachers as givers and developers of love, the role of teachers as educators of manners to students, the role of teachers as nurturers of empathy, the efforts of teachers as teachers of honesty and critical thinking.
