Abstract
This research was motivated by the understanding that the formation of morals was crucial in human life and could not be separated. Knowledge without morals was like fire without wood, and morals without knowledge were like a body without a soul. Knowledge, when possessed by an uncivilized person, could be very dangerous and useless. Therefore, education was needed to improve and develop the quality of human resources. This research was significant because a persistent problem in the field of education was that many students fell into a way of life far from religious values. This led to various issues among students, such as disobeying teachers, fighting with friends, disturbing others during lessons, and other behaviours that were not in line with classroom rules. To prevent these issues, the role of teachers in shaping morals was essential. The research question in this study was how Islamic education teachers played a role in developing morals of eighth-grade students at Junior High School 32 Pekanbaru. The data collection techniques used in this research were interviews and documentation. The results of this study showed that the role of Islamic education teachers in developing morals was carried out through role modelling, habituation, teaching, motivation, and punishment.
