Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of giving rewards on students’ motivation in learning Islamic Studies in grade VIII at SMP IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru. This is a quantitative correlational study. The subjects of the study are students at SMP Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru. The object of the study is the influence of giving rewards on students’ motivation in learning Islamic Studies in grade VIII at SMP IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru. The population of the study consists of 56 students. If the population is less than 100 then the entire population is used as the sample, totaling 56 students. Based on the results of data processing and data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between giving rewards (X) and learning motivation (Y) at SMP IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru. This is in accordance with the ANOVA results which state that the significant value is less than 0.05, that is 0.000 < 0.05, it means that the alternative hypothesis is accepted. Furthermore, the results of the study also show that the coefficient value (R) of 0.990, it means that the magnitude of the influence between giving rewards and learning motivation is 0.990 or 99.0%. If referring to the correlation coefficient interval table, it can be categorized that the influence of variable X on variable Y is very strong because the R value (0.990) is in the range 0.80-1000. So, the influence of giving rewards on students’ learning motivation is very strong. Apart from that, it also explains that the coefficient value (R-square) is 0.981 (98.1%), it means that the learning motivation is influenced by the reward variable at SMP IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru by 98.1% which is included in the interval 0.80-1000 or in the very strong category
