Abstract

Deafness is a condition in which there is a partial or complete loss of hearing function. Ostracization, not accepted in the surrounding community and not given the opportunity to be involved in anything becomes the pressure obtained by deaf people so that they form a closed person and choose not to disclose themselves to their environment. The purpose of this study is to determine the description of self-disclosure in deaf adolescents and what factors are obstacles to not disclosing themselves to their environment. The informants in this study were 2 male adolescents and 1 female adolescent who had a deaf condition. The technique of determining informants using purposive sampling is a sampling technique with consideration of the various criteria provided by the researcher. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods and research data obtained through interviews and observation.The results of this study found that 2 male adolescent informants had good self-disclosure in their environment, while 1 female adolescent informant had poor self-disclosure.
