Abstract
The teacher's role means a set of behaviors that the teacher must do in carrying out his/her duties as a teacher. The teachers have a very broad role, wherever they are at school, in the family and in society. The role of teachers at school is as a designer or planner. Discipline is a term to describe a set of strict rules or comply with regulatory values. This study aimed to investigate the roles of Islamic Studies teachers in forstering student discipline at SMAN 10. The data collection technique of the study was interview, which had been designed by the researcher. Based on the results of interviews with the informants, it was found that the teachers had played an active role in improving student discipline at SMAN 10 Pekanbaru. The teachers acted as educators, mentors, trainers, advisors and leaders in fostering student discipline in worship, time and regulations.
