Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning motivation of students in class VIII at MTs Muhammadiyah 02 Pekanbaru. This study aimed to investigate whether there was an influence of recitation method in increasing students’ learning motivation in class VIII at MTs Muhammadiyah 02 Pekanbaru. This was a quantitative study with a correlational approach. The population of the study was 205 Muslim students in class VIII with a sample of 136 students. The data collection techniques of the study were questionnaires and documentation. The results of the study showed that the alternative hypothesis stating that there is an influence of recitation method in improving students’ learning motivation was accepted with a significance value of 0.000. The level of the recitation method in learning Islamic Studies at MTs Muhammadiyah 02 Pekanbaru was 0.8751 or 87.51%. It can be predicted that if the recitation method is increased by 1%, it will incrase the students’ learning motivation by 87.51%. On the other hand, if there is no implementation of the recitation method in learning by 1%, then the students’ learning motivation is also predicted to decrease by 0.8751 or 87.51%. Moreover, before implementing the recitation method, the constant value (a) was 4,923, it means that the student’ level of learning motivation was very low. The magnitude of the influence was categorized as very strong (0.873 or 87.3%). Meanwhile, the remaining 12.7% was influenced by other factors. The level of relationship between the recitation method and learning motivation was 0.762 or 76.2%, it means that there was a strong relationship between the recitation method in increasing the learning motivation of Muslim students in class VIII at MTs Muhammadiyah 02 Pekanbaru.
