Abstract

This study is motivated by the problem of moral formation, while Instagram social media is a very important problem to overcome because it has a negative impact on the moral formation of adolescents. Because of the problem, the researcher is interested in doing a study entitled the influence of Instagram social media on the moral formation of adolescents aged 18-22 years in the Hamlet 05 of Perhentian Marpoyan Sub-district, Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City. The problem formulation of the study is whether there is an influence of Instagram social media on the moral formation of adolescents aged 18-22 years in the Hamlet 05 of Perhentian Mapoyan Sub-district, Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City. The aim of the study is to investigate the influence of Instagram social media on the moral formation of adolescents aged 18-22 years in the Hamlet 05, Perhentian Marpoyan Sub-District, Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City. The sample of this study consists of 30 adolescents in the Hamlet 05. From the results of simple linear regression correlation analysis, it is found that the significance value is less than 0.05, or 0.000 < 0.05, so the alternative hypothesis is accepted. It means that there is a significant influence of the Instagram social media on the moral formation of adolescents aged 18-22 years in the Hamlet 05 of Perhentian Mapoyan Sub-District. The level of influence is 0.430 or 43.0%, based on the coefficient interval table, it is in the range of 0.40 – 0.699 or in the moderate level of influence. So, the influence of Instagram social media on the moral formation is moderate.
