Abstract

Problem solving is an attempt to find a solution to a problem that aims to achieve a complex goal. This ability is indispensable in solving problems in daily life. The purpose of this study is to findout the role of shadow teachers in helping to solve the problem of socializing children with special needs in inclusion schools. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach by involving 3 informants who work as shadow teachers using the purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques used are interviews and observations. The results of this study show the role of shadow teachers in helping the development of problem-solving skills forchildren with special needs. Shadow teachers play a role as a support system for children with special needs by helping to strengthen children's mental and self-confidence, and become a bridge between children with special needs and other normal children. The obstacles faced by shadow teachers in helping children are the lack of parental role in helping the development of problem solving for children with special needs, as well as the factors of the child's mind and the child's friends that make the child's problemsolving ability not develop optimally.
