Abstract
This study aims to describe the level of creative thinking skills of class XI student of SMAN 3 Siak Hulu on arithmetic rows and series through open-ended questions. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques in the form of tests, interviews, and documentation. The research instrument include creative thinking ability test questions aimed at 32 research subjects, and written interview guides to 5 selected students based on the level of creative thinking ability (very creative, creative, quite creative, less creative, dan not creative). The data analysis used in this study includes; (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data presentation, and (4) conclusion drawn. Based on the research conducted, it shows that the average percentage of students’ creative thinking ability as a whole is 52.5% with a quite creative level. One of the reasons is because students are less able to give answers of more than 1 correctly and fluently, as well as lack of detail in providing the completion of the answers. Meanwhile, each indicator has a percentage of 45% on the fluency indicator, 67.5% on the flexibility indicator, 50% on the originality indicator, and 47.5% on the elaboration indicator.
