Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on the learning outcomes of Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 32 Pekanbaru. This research is a quasi-experimental study using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling, resulting in Grade VIII-2 as the experimental class taught using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and Grade VIII-5 as the control class taught using conventional methods. Data collection was conducted using test techniques. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and mean difference tests (t-tests). The analysis results showed an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < ? (0.05), indicating that is rejected and is accepted. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model significantly influences the mathematics learning outcomes of Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 32 Pekanbaru.
