Abstract

The crime of theft is usually motivated by the perpetrator's daily life circumstances, for example the economic situation or his income level which is relatively low so that he cannot meet the costs of daily living needs and is influenced by a low level of education. Theft is an act or behavior that, apart from being detrimental to the sufferer, is also very detrimental to society, namely in the form of loss of balance, peace and order. The formulation of the problem in this research is First, the formulation of the problem in this research is First, what are the factors that cause theft of palm oil fruit in the jurisdiction of the Tapung Sector Police? What is the modus operandi of the perpetrator in stealing palm fruit? Efforts to Overcome Palm Oil Theft? The type of research used by the author in this research is empirical legal research, namely legal research that obtains data from primary data or data obtained in society. The data obtained as such, in order to become an integrated and systematic scientific work (thesis), is connected to theory and then analyzed qualitatively and described by outlining and illustrating the problems related to this problem. From the results of the research and discussion, the author found several factors. The factors most often used as reasons for perpetrators are economic factors, environmental factors, educational factors, law enforcement factors and employment factors. There are several obstacles in dealing with cases of palm oil theft. The first is internal obstacles, namely facilities and infrastructure. Facilities and infrastructure that can be used to support the process of overcoming criminal acts of theft include the availability of investigation and investigation tools, transportation facilities for patrol and surveillance purposes.
