Abstract
The Orphanage is an institution that operates in the social sector to help children who no longer have parents. For children living in an orphanage, the orphanage environment is the main social environment in which they adjust. Adjustment requires the ability of adolescents to live and interact naturally with the environment, so that adolescents feel satisfied with themselves and their environment. Self-adjustment will be an important guide in helping teenagers when they enter wider society. This research aims to look at the adjustment process for teenagers living in orphanages and what factors influence it. By using qualitative methods and utilizing a triangulation approach to verify the accuracy of the data obtained. The subject of this research involved three informants who were children living at the Teratai Pekanbaru Orphanage, while the object of this research was the Teratai Pekanbaru Orphanage. This research examines the adjustment of adolescents living at the Teratai Pekanbaru Orphanage. This research shows that teenagers who have good relationships with peers in orphanages are better able to overcome emotional and social challenges compared to those who do not have support. And findings from informants show that supportive attitudes, openness, and the ability to manage emotions constructively play an important role in building personal and environmental harmony in orphanages.
