Abstract

The The authoritative parenting style of parents is one of the important factors that influences students' achievement motivation. The higher the parenting style provided by parents, the higher the students' achievement motivation. This research aims to determine the relationship between parents' authoritative parenting style and achievement motivation in SMA X Pekanbaru students. The population in this study were SMA X Pekanbaru students. This research uses quantitative methods. The number of samples obtained was 200 students using stratified random sampling techniques. The instruments used in this research were the authoritative parenting style scale which consists of 24 items and the achievement motivation scale which consists of 18 items. Based on research conducted on X Pekanbaru students, it was found that there was a relationship between parents' authoritative parenting style and achievement motivation in X Pekanbaru students. It can be seen from the results of the correlation coefficient between parents' authoritative parenting style and students' achievement motivation of (r) = 0.573 and it is known that the significant value is 0.000<0.05. This proves that there is a positive relationship between parents' authoritative parenting style and achievement motivation in SMA X Pekanbaru students.
