Abstract
Efforts to improve students' mathematical critical thinking skills by choosing a learning model, one of which is guided inquiry learning model. Guided inquiry learning is considered effective for improving students' mathematical critical thinking skills. This guided inquiry learning model can develop intellectual skills, critical thinking, and be able to solve problems scientifically. This study aims to determine the effect of guided inquiry learning model on students' mathematical critical thinking ability in phase E of SMK Negeri 3 Pekanbaru. The design of this research is Nonequivalent Control Group Design with the research population is phase E students. The sampling technique used is random sampling technique by selecting two classes randomly, namely class X (BP 1) as the experimental class and class X (BP 2) as the control class. Data obtained through student pre-test and post-test. Hypothesis testing in this study used non-parametric two mean comparison test data analysis techniques, namely the Mann-Whitney U. The results of descriptive analysis in this study showed that the experimental class X (BP 1) was higher with an average of 51.36 than the control class X (BP 2) with an average of 36.47. The results of the hypothesis, namely the mann-whitney U test, show that the significance value of Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) of 0.014 where the value is smaller than 0.05 (0.014 < 0.05). Thus, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, it can be concluded that there is an effect of guided inquiry learning model on students' mathematical critical thinking skills in phase E of SMK Negeri 3 Pekanbaru.
