ABSTRACT In Sei Kijang Cipang Kiri Hulu Village, Rokan IV Koto District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province, there is a dance created by Tengku Novia Krisviana Hafas, S.Pd and supported by the local community, namely Meonjai Padi Dance. Meonjai Padi dance was created in 2013, which was raised from the tradition of harvesting rice which was carried out together or cooperatively. Meonjai dance has 14 kinds of movements and uses Ketidiang as a property. Because Meonjai Padi Dance was created and preserved by the community, this study aims to determine the Sociological Study of Meonjai Padi Dance in Sei Kijang Cipang Kiri Hulu Village, Rokan IV Koto District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The theory that researchers use is the theory According to Hadi said that the sociological approach, which tries to connect the interpretation of the existence of dance with the collective consciousness of the community to raise the Meonjai Padi tradition into a performance, the social structure of this dance is farmers, the function of dance in society, namely As beauty, there are movements, makeup and clothing used by Meonjai Padi dancers. Dance as pleasure, namely dance as entertainment, dance as a means of communication is in the movements of the Meonjai Padi dance and the lyrics in the Meonjai Padi music. the symbol system is in the properties, movements and poems in the Meonjai Padi dance. supraorganic is the idea or idea of the creator of the dance so that the Meonjai Padi tradition is preserved from generation to generation, and connects the symbol system with the community system (Hadi, 2005: 6). The method used in this research is descriptive analysis, with a qualitative approach.
