Abstract

Finding the analysis of the Bogalah Dance at the Pinang Sinawa Studio in Ujung Batu District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province was the aim of this study. The theory applied There are several facets of dance, according to Soedarsono (in Mursito & Lestari, 2023:50), including dance moves, floor layout, music, dynamics, themes, properties, apparel and costumes, lighting, and staging. This study's methodology is based on the kind of research—qualitative descriptive research. This kind of study employs a qualitative descriptive analytic method in field research. The study's findings indicated that this dance originated from commonplace activities like rafting or rowing boats, and it was derived from the blossom of the Rokan Hulu silat. This movement was the inspiration behind the invention of the Bogalah dance. This Bogalah dance makes extensive use of poles or wood that are shaped like boats or rafts for the floor design. Rafts or boats were the primary mode of transportation for the residents of Ujung Batu, Rokan Hulu Regency in the past. Rafts were also typically utilized by the local population to meet their everyday requirements. The gondang berogong melody is played in tandem with this bogalah dance. One of the traditional musical genres of the Ujung Batu Rokan Hulu community is gondang berogong. The musical instruments Calempong, Gendang silat (Ketepak), and Gong make up the Gondang berogong itself. Keywords: Bogalah Dance, Dance Analysis
