Abstract

This study aims to describe and determine the values of the sahur bride tradition in Pulau Palas Village, Tembilahan Hulu District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The theory used in this study is the theory of traditional values (Adhy, 2015:75) which states that traditional values can be viewed in terms of traditional values related to human relations with humans, traditional values related to human relations with nature, traditional values related to human relations with themselves, related to human relations with God. The research method used in this study is qualitative descriptive interactive. Data collection was carried out by observation, documentation and interviews. The data analysis technique used was data reduction, data display and verification or drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that for the community, the Pengantin sahur tradition is a tradition of waking up and encouraging residents to wake up for sahur in the early hours of the morning which is specifically carried out in the month of Ramadan. The traditional values contained in the Pengantin sahur tradition of the Malay community of Pulau Palas Village, Tembilahan Hulu District, Indragiri Hlilir Regency are cultural values related to human relations with humans, cultural values related to human relations with nature, cultural values related to human relations with themselves, related to human relations with God.
