Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the educational value contained inthe Serakal Tradition in the Malay Community Wedding Ceremony in SungaiPasir Tanjung Balai, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands. The theory used by theauthor to determine the value of education uses the theory of Ani Nur Aeni(2018: 4) that the value of education is as a process of guidance throughsuritauladan, education that is oriented towards instilling the values of life thatexist in it including religious, cultural, ethical and social values towards theformation of a person who has religious spiritual intelligence, self-control, acomplete personality, noble character, and skills that are needed by himself,society and the country. The research method that the author uses is adescriptive qualitative method. The author uses observation techniques,interview techniques, documentation techniques and data analysis techniques.The results of this research conclude that the Serakal Tradition in the PasirTanjung Balai River, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands has educational value,namely: 1). The value of religious education is devotion, trust and belief in thesacred tradition which symbolizes religious values, namely when reading theBarzanji verse, 2). The value of cultural education is customs and traditions.What symbolizes the value of cultural education is when performing barzanjiand accompanied by musical instruments (kompang), 3). The value ofethical/moral education is related to the good behavior of fellow members ofthe group, which contains the value of ethical/moral education when barzanjiis done in a row, 4). The value of social education refers to an individual'srelationship with other individuals in a society.
