Abstract

Crime is nothing new in social life. Of the many crimes that exist in the world, one of them is theft. There are also types of theft, violent theft being one of them. The number of theft cases is very disturbing to the public, one of which is in Pekanbaru, Riau. One of the government's prevention efforts is through the police. The police also have defined duties. One of the units in the Pekanbaru Police is the Sabhara Unit which has the role of interacting directly with the community. This is the author's interest in researching the phenomenon of violent theft in the Pekanbaru Police Legal Area. The problem in this research is first, to examine what factors support the occurrence of violent theft crimes in the Pekanbaru Police Legal Area. Second, innovation or the role of the patrol police in efforts to prevent violent theft crimes in the Pekanbaru Police's jurisdiction and third, what are the obstacles faced by the Patrol Police in efforts to prevent violent theft in the Pekanbaru Police's jurisdiction. The author chose the type of research observational research by conducting surveys and interviews to obtain primary and secondary data. In collecting data, the author conducted interviews with the authorities, namely the Head of Sat Sabhara Unit and Deputy Head of Sat Shabara Unit. There are two factors that cause violent crime, namely internal factors and external factors. Meanwhile, the innovations carried out by the Pekanbaru Police start from reactivating dialogue patrols and patrols and synergy patrols, not only that, the Samapta unit also establishes relationships with the existing police stations in Pekanaru to gain the trust of the community. The Police Patrol also protects the community by holding several approaches in direct. Lack of manpower or personnel from the Shabara unit, increasing crime rates every year, lack of facilities and infrastructure, and low community participation in maintaining security and order are some of the obstacles to efforts to prevent theft and this crime.
